The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Bourbon County in southeastern Kansas...
northern Crawford County in southeastern Kansas...
Hickory County in central Missouri...
northeastern Barton County in southwestern Missouri...
Cedar County in southwestern Missouri...
Benton County in central Missouri...
northwestern Polk County in southwestern Missouri...
Vernon County in west central Missouri...
St. Clair County in west central Missouri...
northwestern Camden County in central Missouri...
Morgan County in central Missouri...
northern Dade County in southwestern Missouri...

* until 515 PM CDT

* at 1115 am CDT, the Department of Transportation reported flooding
continuing across the area. Many low water crossings remain in
flood with Road closures. Doppler radar estimated between three
and seven inches of rainfall occurred with this storm system.

* Creeks, streams, and low water crossings will be especially
susceptible to the dangers of flooding.

This warning includes but is not limited to the following low water
crossings...
Route v at Weaubleau creek east of Flemington...
Route v at Deer Creek near Hastain...
Route dd at Knobby creek 6 miles northeast of Edwards...
Route M at Bear Creek east of Stockton...
and Route j at Brush Creek 6 miles west of Collins.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 39.5 feet by
around midnight then begin falling.

afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage Wednesday
evening.
* Impact... at 45.0 feet... moderate flooding begins at the gage site.

* at 6:45 am Sunday the stage was 25.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 30.4 feet by this
afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage Thursday early
afternoon.
* Impact... at 31.0 feet... major flooding occurs at the gage site.
Flood waters backs up along the White Creek which affects Logan
Road north of downtown Nevada.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Kansas and Missouri, including the
following areas, in southeast Kansas, Bourbon, Cherokee, and
Crawford. In Missouri, Barry, Barton, Benton, Camden, Cedar,
Christian, Dade, Dallas, Dent, Douglas, Greene, Hickory,
Howell, Jasper, Laclede, Lawrence, Maries, McDonald, Miller,
Morgan, Newton, Oregon, Ozark, Phelps, Polk, Pulaski, Shannon,
St. Clair, stone, Taney, Texas, Vernon, Webster, and Wright.

* Through this evening

* showers and thunderstorms will continue to primarily affect the
Highway 63 corridor into this afternoon... however areas over the
remainder of the watch area will still witness scattered showers
through this morning. While rainfall is not expected to resulted
in additional widespread flooding... the additional light to
moderate rain will keep flood levels high.

* With soils already saturated as well as streams and rivers
running high, significant flooding will continue. Flooding of
streams, rivers, and low water crossings could last for
several days after the rain ends. Areas that don't normally
flood could flood in this event. Many rivers are expected to
go into moderate to major flood... with some breaking records.

Some main Stem rivers that will experience significant rises and
potential flooding include the Elk, Spring, James, Big Piney,
Gasconade, Jacks Fork, current, eleven point, Osage, and
Marmaton. Some river points may reach moderate or major flood
stage.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
